I WOULD LOVE TO CREATE JUST FOR YOU

HOW DOES IT HAPPEN?

Lets chat about it

As an artist, creating for someone else is quite the experience.

I am sure it would be no surprise to learn that I fizzle with nervous energy until the very end.

The end is the best part. The big reveal, the room erupts with joy and I can breathe calmly again ahhhhh.

For you, its the same but different. You're excited and a little nervous which is why you are reading this right now before you commit. What if you dont like it? Im sure you have wondered, it is a fair concern. It may please you to hear that I am yet to have a big reveal flop. But if you're still a little fizzy with nerves, let me try and reassure you.

ITS ALL IN OUR CHATS

This is where the magic happens and to this date it is still the only reason I open my studio to commissions. Connecting with you is a fabulous thing. Discovering what brought you to my work. Understanding why you want this wonderful piece of art. Its a rare and lovely contrast to me talking to my plants.

The success of a commission is in our communication and connection.

Instead of being lost inside my own head, I need to crawl into yours. Well, not quite...cos that would be weird. I still create like me, but my focus is that the piece is for you. When I create for you, I have our conversations in mind. Like you're sitting in the studio directing my inspiration.

There are a couple of important things we need to consider and agree upon before we embark on this awesome creative adventure. So have a think about the following before we chat.

Budget

The B word. It's essential for both of us to have a clear understanding of what you are comfortable investing in this bespoke artwork. This allows me to create a piece that not only resonates with you but also aligns with your financial expectations.

Why are commissioned artworks more expensive?

Great question, with a simple answer : Extra time. When pricing commissioned art its essential to factor in additional time for meetings and email communication, any additional research etc through out the project so your artwork is delivered in alignment with your personal brief. It is quite a different process for an artist to create to a specifically set brief. Having your requests in the back of my mind as I create slows the process down, because I am focussed on meeting your expectations! It is infact why so many artists wont take on commissioned artwork. However, I love it. I love the special connection that develops with my clients throughout this process. It's a challenge I really enjoy. Sure, its also nerve racking when the client views the finished work for the first time. But like I said, I havent had an unhappy client yet.

Connection and Conversation

Once we've agreed on the budget, we'll arrange a meeting or zoom call giving us a chance to have a wonderful, art-filled conversation. During this chat, I'll ask questions and listen intently to your preferences, interests, and the emotions you want the artwork to evoke. The more I know about you, the better I can infuse your personality and desires into the painting.

Trusting the Process

With your vision clear in my mind, I'll work intuitively, keeping your input and direction front of my mind. I supply rough drafts for large scale murals, not private commissions.

Availability and Time Frame

In our very first chat it's important to align our expectations regarding the time frame for creating your artwork. My availability fluctuates throughout the year, so if there is a special occasion you hope for me to align with, lets makes sure I can make it happen for you.

Collaborating with you is a privilege, and I can't wait to start the creative process. Here are a few more things for you to think about before we lock in the project.

  • Do you have a specific location in mind for the artwork to be hung?
  • Is there a piece of work you have seen that you would like me to consider when creating your piece?
  • Or is there a piece that you would like me to steer away from. Don't be concerned, I wont be offended. The more I know the more successful the outcome will be.
  • Are there colours you would like me to include or avoid?
  • Would you like to feel relaxed or invigorated when viewing this piece?
  • Are you in a hurry? I have a wait list, so if you are considering having me create a piece just for you, let me know and I'll place you on the waitlist. We can talk specifics closer to the time of me making your piece.

Get ready to hang a piece that reflects your unique taste and personality, knowing "this artwork was made exclusively for you!"
